Ever find yourself spending 15$ on dog treats that aren't even that healthy for your dog? Well I have the perfect solution for you to save money on dog treats and even maybe earn some!
I have three dogs. Gunner, a 70 pound pit-bull mix, Poppy, a 40 pound cattle mix, and Little Jesse, a 20 pound Shiba Inu. I have found that they are rather picky when it comes to what they are putting in their mouth, so when buying dog treats I always over-spend hoping they will like one of the treats I bought. Unfortunately majority of the time those treats go to waste and I will give them away to family friends. It's hard to sell something when you don't have positive experiences with a product so I just give them away. I'm sure I could make a few extra bucks if I took the time.
Well it's time of the year for pumpkins, and did you know Pumpkin is actually very good for your dog! "This festive gourd is a miracle food for dogs. Good for both diarrhea and
constipation, canned pumpkin (not raw, not the sugary, spicy pie
filling) is loaded with fiber and beta-carotene, which the body converts
to vitamin A. Don’t give Buddy a lot of it—too much A is highly toxic
to dogs—but a couple of teaspoons a day for little pups, or a couple of
tablespoons for big boys, should keep them right on track."
I decided it was time to try to make some treats on my own! I reached for my monthly pet magazine and there they had it.. The magical recipe. This is a great way to save money on healthy dog treats, and plus you know exactly what's going in the recipe! While making the treats all 3 dogs were uninterested, that is until I popped them in the oven to cook. They couldn't even wait, they were at my feet everywhere I went, drooling and looking up at me with puppy dog eyes. Here is the recipe! I did notice when making these the dough can get very sticky, try adding some peanut butter. You can get your kids involved too! And since it Halloween I suggest getting some festive cookie cutters!
The best part about this is that everything is fairly cheap to make, and when you are done you can sell them to friends and family, or give them as gifts.
